A 20-year-old man accompanied by his friend slammed the speeding four wheeler (Volkswagen) into two wheelers at the speed of 120kmph at midnight (12:30 AM) of March 14 in Gujarat’s Vadodara, 3 people died and leaving about 7 people severely injured.
Accused on the driver’s seat identified as Rakshit Chaurasia, has been arrested, resident of Varanasi who is studying law at a University in Vadodara. Whereas, the guy on the passenger seat, the owner of the vehicle, is identified as Mit Chauhan, has been arrested, who was travelling with Rakshit Chaurasia at the time of accident, is the resident of Vadodara and also a law student in a private university.

The viral video shows, the friend coming out of the car saying “Ye pagal hai saala” referring to his friend and telling camera man I didn’t do anything he (friend) was driving the car and pan the camera to him not me.
Immediately after, the driver comes out of the car shouting “another round” and shouting name “Nikita”, when people were trying to hold him, he started shouting “Om Namah Shivay” (hail Lord Shiva) and you can hear in the background a person saying “3 jhan mar gaye saale teri wajah se” (3 people died because of you).
The video pans to the gruesome scene of blood and gore where 3 dead bodies are scattered around the incident area.
As shown in the viral video, a huge crowd gathered and grabbed Chaurasia and beat him and the crowd saying “pakad ke rakho ise” (Hold him).
“The car was speeding and rammed several people in the Karelibag area. In the accident, one woman was killed, and four others are currently undergoing treatment. We will lodge an FIR and are analysing the CCTV footage in this drink-and-drive case. The investigation into the matter is underway,” senior cop Panna Momaya told India Today TV.
Chauhan, who was arrested a few hours after the incident, underwent a medical test so that the police could ascertain if he was also drunk.
Momaya said that Chaurasia did have a valid driving licence.
Aftermath of Incident: ‘Want to meet victim’s family’
After brutally beaten by the crowd, Chaurasia and his friend were arrested by Vadodra Police. Speaking to reporters, Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia whose face was all bruised and swollen claimed that the airbags in the car opened when the vehicle touched the scooty obstructing his sight.
“I was returning to my home, it was my friend’s car. It touched a scooty, the car sensors are sensitive so airbags opened. I couldn’t see anything, the car got derailed. I didn’t know what happened. Then a fight ensued which you saw in the video. I was saying all that to drive people away from me. I was saying ‘Rakshit’ and ‘Om Namah Shivay’…,” he said.
Chaurasia claimed that the car’s speed was around 50kmph and there was no vehicle except only a scooty and a car around. When asked by the police about the alcohol consumption, Chaurasia refused being under the influence of alcohol at the time of incident.
He said “We didn’t do any party, I didn’t consume anything”.
“I would like to meet the family of the one’s who dies at the spot”, he further said.
At last he said, “We were returning after witnessing Holika Dahan“.
